Who We Are

The Active Surveillance Prostate Cancer Support Group brings together prostate cancer patients and advocates across North America to empower those affected by prostate cancer to make informed decisions with their physicians on active surveillance as a treatment option.

Active surveillance is a treatment method in which patients with low to moderate risk prostate cancer may monitor their cancer closely with their physician or healthcare team.

Some men live many years on active surveillance and do not need to progress to further "invasive" treatment, while for others, active surveillance is a good choice to temporarily avoid side effects from surgery, radiation or other localized prostate cancer treatments, that may impact their quality of life.

The Active Surveillance Support Group gathers online on the Second Thursday of each month at 4:30 pm Pacific/7:30 pm Eastern for a round table discussion about the pros and cons, and highs and lows, of the active surveillance journey. Attendees are encouraged to share their experiences, ask questions, or just listen in while they grow more comfortable. Support groups are strictly confidential and no medical advice is given.

Register for the next meeting here.

The Active Surveillance Support Group is a proud initiative of Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada - a Canadian grassroots non-profit that, for over 25 years, has been dedicated to providing resources and leadership in prostate cancer support, awareness, and research.
